Hayne threshing barn was once the main
Cider Making Site For The Local Area.
In its heyday it would have been a hive of activity and production with perhaps a few cider fuelled barn dances! However, when Tim & Milla first stumbled across Hayne, the farm buildings were on their way to being a crumbling ruin. Nature had finally won its battle for control and the Threshing Barn was dangerously close to falling down. With help from English Heritage, a conservation officer, local master craftsmen and builders, the site was painstakingly renovated. An epic journey lasting five years, led to the Grade II* listed farm buildings being transformed into a fully functioning party and events space.
Today the Threshing Barn combines
traditional 17th century oak joinery,
cob and lime structure, biomass under floor flooring, a mix of state of the art & reclaimed lighting and a handcrafted fully stocked bar, complete with disco ball.
The substantial and versatile venue is made up of three interlinking spaces;
Jacobean Threshing Barn, Oak Glazed Gallery & Dining Room
These three interconnecting spaces can be scaled to suit a full range of different events. This enables the client to adapt the usage to suit the number of guests, the flow of proceedings and level of intimacy they may wish to create. Each space can be decorated simply to further enhance the existing naturalistic beauty of the buildings or be styled and dressed up to the hilt, making it a statement space in which to entertain. For even larger events, the lawn area directly in front of the Threshing Barn was landscaped to accommodate the very biggest of marquees or ‘Giant Hat’ tipis giving further versatility and scope to the venue.
The Threshing Barn offers
stunning views of rolling Devon countryside.
On warm evenings, the doors of the Oak Glazed Gallery can be thrown open, allowing guests to spill out onto the south facing sun terrace, creating an outdoor room complete with roaring fire pits and space to dance beneath the night skies.
